Newton Stewart Sub-Aqua Club is located in Dumfries & Galloway in the South West of Scotland.
The Club usually organises a try dive and Ocean Diver Course at the start of each year. This is held at the Merrick Leisure Centre in Newton Stewart from February to April. Theory lessons are an integral part of the Ocean Diver Course and are organised to go along with the practical lessons in the pool. We quite often have a get together in the Creebridge House Hotel afterwards in the town.
For the rest of the year the Club organises dives, training and social events….a popular one being a beach barbeque in the summer!
The Club has usually got a steady membership of about 40. We run a diver training programme affiliated to the British Sub-Aqua Club. We welcome new members, anyone from people who have never dived before to Advanced divers.
The Club owns a 6.5m RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat), The Darren Kelly that we are presently re-
The club has been involved with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and Seasearch for a few years now. Members who have been on an introductory marine life identification course can help the MCS to study and record the UK’s underwater environment. Click on the images to find out more.
